Madrid Spain.- Amnesty International (AI) denounced the Cuban regime for prohibiting it from witnessing the trial against artist Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara (LMOA) and rapper Maykel Castillo Pérez (Maykel Osorbo), which began this Monday at the Marianao People’s Municipal Court in Havana.
The organization that defends Human Rights recalled that part of its work worldwide is to supervise judicial processes.
“In Cuba, our work is hampered by the government of Miguel Díaz-Canel”, declared AI through the social network Twitter.

Amnesty International: Latin American and European governments should monitor the trial
After the date of the trial against the artivists Luis Manuel Otero and Maykel Castillo was announced, Amnesty International presented a release in which he demanded his immediate release and indicated that the governments of Latin America and Europe should monitor the trial.
“Latin American governments should not remain silent when artists are threatened with prison sentences. (…) The governments of Latin America and Europe should closely monitor the trial against these Cuban prisoners of conscience, who should never have spent a day in prison,” the document stated.
In August last year, Amnesty International declared both artists prisoners of conscience.

Also this Tuesday it transpired that the Cuban regime denied entry to the oral hearing to representatives of Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Germany and the Netherlands.
The diplomats had requested permission from the Cuban Foreign Ministry to attend the oral hearing, but they were not authorized.
During the first day of the judicial process, this May 30, Cuban independent activists and journalists were also detained so that they could not report on the heavy police deployment outside the Court.
Among the people who were detained by State Security are the journalist from CubaNet Camila Acosta, the actor and activist Daniel Triana and the 11J protester Andy Garcia Lorenzo.
