Espinoza inaugurated municipal diplomacy with a commercial and political mission to Brazil

Espinoza is on a trade mission in São Paulo

Argentina inaugurated this Monday in Brazil the so-called municipal diplomacy, with the two-day tour that the mayor of La Matanza, Fernando Espinoza, began in San Pablo, along with a trade mission of 30 companies to expand exports and strengthen economic exchange and technology in the production field.

“This is a way to carry forward what has to do with the future of the country, work and production as a great computer. With more exports, Argentina will generate more foreign currency, which is what we need, to activate the wheel of the economy” said the mayor to Télam.

He did so after participating in the opening of the Brazil-La Matanza business round at the headquarters of the powerful Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp), in which he showed the productive, industrial profile and the search to convert the largest Argentine municipality in a pole of innovation and knowledge on a global scale.

“We want to open a window to the world for La Matanza after the pandemic. Many of the companies that came are already exporters to Brazil. We are going to try to double the volume of business from this mission,” explained the mayor of the Front of All which at the beginning of the month was at the head of the Argentine Federation of Municipalities (FAM).

Espinoza makes his tour with the Production Secretary of La Matanza, Débora Giorgi, accompanied by Ambassador Daniel Scioli and the Consul General in San Pablo, Luis María Kreckler.

The host businessman, the superintendent of Fiesp, Antonio Carlos Costa, said in his speech prior to the business round that the most important industrial corporation in South America “has great respect and friendship for Argentina.”

“This mission occurs at a time of a world with difficulties in global supply chains, with problems for businessmen. La Matanza is an important region for Argentina and for Mercosur. We need to integrate more and achieve good business with investments and trade” Costa stated.

For his part, Ambassador Scioli assured that Espinoza’s visit is the first by a mayor at this level of trade mission and remarked that La Matanza is the largest municipality in Argentina.

“In this new international context, productive integration with Brazil must be strengthened in sectors such as the agri-food industry, electromobility and the importance of lithium, fertilizer. The post-pandemic and the war accelerated future processes that are part of our agenda”, evaluated Scioli in dialogue with Télam.

The ambassador said that, for these reasons, La Matanza’s commitment to industrial innovation puts the city “at the forefront,” after noting that Espinoza leads the FAM.

“This mission will be a before and after,” stressed the ambassador in Brasilia.

Two strong points of the tour will be the visits to the plants of the multinational companies that are based in La Matanza, such as the Mercedes Benz automotive company and the ArcelorMittal steel company, one of the largest in the world in this field.

For his part, Giorgi told this agency that this business mission is a “good opportunity for companies that already had exports” since 75% of the companies that sold to Brazil intend to continue on that path.

“The work of the embassy and the consulate allows us to bring products to the shelves of supermarkets in Brazil, to bring stationery and hardware to stores and corralones in Brazil or that the construction boom in São Paulo has our elevators and escalators” , valued.

In this sense, Giorgi cited what he called “anchor companies” based in La Matanza, referring to Mercedes Benz and Acindar, to increase interaction and complementarity with their subsidiaries in the state of São Paulo.

Regarding the business convergence between both countries, the director of Institutional Relations of Mercedes Benz in Brazil, Luiz Carlos Moraes, stated: “We hope to do great business, Brazil and Argentina are very important and have to do more in the post-pandemic and post-war period, so as not to be dependent on countries or regions such as Asia or others. The approximation of Brazilian and Argentine businessmen is a great step for our region”.

As president of the FAM, Espinoza also signed a cooperation agreement with Marcelo Barbieri, head of the Paulista Association of Mayors (APP, for its acronym in Portuguese).

In addition, the communal chief Espinoza had scheduled a meeting with the mayor of San Pablo, Ricardo Nunes.
