They punish Osorbo in jail for thanking the Grammys to 'Patria y Vida'

Rapper Maykel Castillo Osorbo, A prisoner for half a year, he has been punished with a suspension of calls abroad for three months. As explained this Friday art curator Anamely Ramos, the reason is the recorded messages that the artist has been sending from prison.

One of them was, the one who sent on the occasion of the Latin Grammy gala, on November 18, when the song Homeland and Life, in which Osorbo participates, she won the two awards for which she was nominated.

Ramos says that on Wednesday Castillo was visited by his lawyer in the maximum security prison of Kilo Cinco y Medio, in Pinar del Río, after several days without hearing from the rapper. “In this way we confirm that he is still there,” wrote the curator, a member, like the singer, of the San Isidro Movement (MSI).

“Maykel’s voice is unbearable for power, even with his body imprisoned. With this they only show their fear and how little they have left as authority”

“Maykel’s voice is unbearable for power, even with his body in prison. With this they only show their fear and how little they have left as authority,” says Ramos, who narrates that at the beginning they punished Osorbo with the prohibition of calls for one month, but when he was called to sign the disciplinary measure imposed on him, he put “Patria y Vida” under his name, thus increasing the punishment to three months.

“Also a sentence of three words is unbearable for them,” denounces Ramos. “Three words have the power to leave without resources, beyond violence, a complete State. Three words: each a month of solitary confinement for Maykel. They are sad.”

Ramos insisted that Osorbo is “unjustly imprisoned” and sick. “In these conditions, isolating him is doubly serious. How will we know about his state of health now?”

“To remove the calls to a prisoner for sending an audio thanking a prize that was won for his talent and effort and that is an award for all of Cuba (which is not yours), is a cruel action and a shame in the 21st century” He asserted, while recalling that the Cuban prison regulations violate “the Mandela Laws and are contemptuous of human dignity and life.”

Osorbo was arrested on May 18 and at the end of that month he was transferred to a maximum security prison Kilo Cinco y Medio. Is accused of “attack”, “public disorder” and “evasion of prisoners or detainees” due to events that occurred on April 4, at a demonstration on Damas Street, in front of the MSI headquarters, when the police tried to detain him arbitrarily and he refused to get on the patrol.
