Today the president, by decree, agreement or by his pistols, has taken to the streets more than 80 thousand soldiers to carry out police tasks.
None of those who criticized the militarization of the country when they were in the opposition dared even touch the Mexican Army with a rose petal.
That Army that they accused from the most radical left of operating the dirty war, of practicing torture, of participating in the murder of the 43 from Ayotzinapa. Today, as in the harshest times of the PRI, the Army is untouchable.
And its general secretary became the spokesperson for a political party-movement.
They walk like soldiers. They charge like soldiers. They build airports like soldiers. They will distribute medicine like soldiers. But it is not militarization.
