Traveling app issues infuriate customers

Traveling app issues infuriate customers

The tools for the distance selling of interprovincial bus tickets are failing. The high demand for the mobile application Viajando causes interruptions due to network congestion, the Transport Information Services company (Sitrans) reported on Thursday in a statement.

This Friday, another communication from Sitrans announced new bugs, this time with the APK Transfermovil. The sale of tickets to travel between provinces began late, accompanied by many criticisms on social networks.

Since October 25, the tickets began to be marketed again through the application, but the system crashes are frequent, making it practically impossible to acquire a ticket.

Customers complain that when they manage to overcome the errors in the system, the passages have already disappeared as if by magic, in just minutes, something reminiscent of famous people flying combos from the TuEnvío platform.

“What’s the point of this APK if there is congestion at 8:30 am and we can’t all enter,” Maurene Bueno complains on the Sitrans Facebook page. “This should have been foreseen.”

“The application does not open for me,” Luz Deydis lamented in the same post. “I have tried 35 minutes and nothing!”.

The Traveling application appeared as an alternative to the long lines that must be made in front of the ticket agencies, where many even sleep to have a good shift and in which frequent fights force the police to intervene.

At the beginning of its launch, Traveling seemed to work correctly, but as more buyers are registered, the platform becomes more unstable, just as it happens with other similar online applications and services, which do not quite work normally.

According to Sitrans, 30,000 people try to access the app in the morning at the same time, starting at 8:30 a.m., and the servers do not seem to be prepared to withstand this load, which has increased significantly after the removal of movement restrictions within the Island that forced the pandemic.

“Today at 8:30 when the APK opened, of 60 assignments (two buses) on 12/25, there were only 2 seats left, and when I went in to reserve, there were none left, draw your own conclusions”, suggested Joel Hernández at post where the affectations were communicated.

The problem is not only technological. There also seems to be a divorce between supply and demand, since the buses and tickets available for each province are insufficient.

For now, Cubans continue trying every morning to connect with Viajando, to see if they are lucky or “classify” as they say in colloquial language to buy a ticket and be able to spend the end of the year with their relatives, after many months without to be able to visit them, due to the closures due to the covid pandemic.
