AMLO asks not to stigmatize inhabitants of the Golden Triangle

Guadalupe y Calvo, Chih., From this point deep in the Sierra Madre Occidental, nestled in the so-called Golden Triangle, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador called not to stigmatize the inhabitants of this region and promised them: We will not stop supporting themfor which he announced that the social programs will continue, and if necessary they will increase, until the end of his administration.

“I don’t like it, it bothers me that they call it the Golden Triangle, and I hope that together we all find a way to call it: ‘the triangle of good people and hard-working people’ or ‘the good neighborhood region’, or something like that. But now we have to change that because there is a lot of kindness here, a lot of good, hard-working people, we should not stigmatize any area”, stated the president.

The borders of Sinaloa, Durango and Chihuahua converge in this area, but it is considered an epicenter of drug trafficking under the control of the Sinaloa cartel.

After his morning conference, held yesterday in Culiacán, López Obrador traveled by helicopter together with the governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya (Morena), to this point in Chihuahua, where he was received by the local president María Eugenia Campos (PAN). . The governor of Durango, José Rosas Aispuro Torres (PAN), was not summoned due to the electoral ban for the next election in that entity.

The President came to this population of 50,514 inhabitants and 12,221 homes to promise the permanence, until at least September 2024 -when his administration ends-, of the so-called Welfare Programs, which have helped, he said, the sectors most vulnerable, among them young people, who need support so as not to opt for the path of antisocial behaviors.

He led the start of the third National Planting Day 2022 of the Sembrando Vida program, with which almost 4,000 people who have planted 9,840 hectares are supported. But if 4 thousand more is needed, it is authorizedhe offered.

Previously, he took advantage of his time in the region to supervise the progress of the works on the Badiraguato-Parral and Tamazula-Canelas highways, which are intended to connect the communities in the area and cross the mountain spirals. These roads are expected to be completed in December of this year, so he hoped to return on those dates to inaugurate them.

He indicated that only in Guadalupe y Calvo there are 22 thousand beneficiaries of the different social programs. It means that in almost every home (in the town) there is support.

In this municipality located in the south of Chihuahua, in the heart of the Sierra Tarahumara, the president referred to the importance of supporting youth to provide them with study and work options; and he called them not to believe that happiness is money or material things.

“Happiness is being good with oneself, with our conscience and with others, and only by being good can we be happy. Everything else is ephemeral: the brand name clothes, the jewelry, the latest model car, the truck, all of that was even used as a message because, instead of inducing the young man to be a good person and go out go ahead with work and study, they wanted to turn him into a consumerist, where the most important thing is the material, that’s why ‘And the Cheyenne, Dad?’ To hell with that!”
