Through a trade, the president peter castle solicitous to the Congress of the Republic the necessary authorization to travel to the United States from June 7 to 12 in order to be able to participate in the IX Summit of the Americas, to be held in the city of Los Angeles next month.
According to what is stated in the legal document, the request made by the president seeks to obtain the opportunity to discuss the issues on the agenda proposed by the host country for this year, which aim to develop strategic actions aimed at compliance in the American continent with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) established in the 2030 Agenda.

“The IX Summit of the Americas will be held under the slogan ‘building a sustainable, resilient and equitable future’. As the host country, the United States of America has proposed to the membership the discussion and adoption of five commitments: Plan of Action on Health and Resilience in the Americas; Our Green Future; Accelerating the Transition to Clean Energy; Regional Agenda for Digital Transformation; Inter-American Plan of Action on Democratic Governance”, can be read in the letter sent by the Presidency of the Republic
On the other hand, within the request made by the Executive it is also reported that President Pedro Castillo would have planned to participate in the IV Business Summit of the Americas, between June 8 and 9. Likewise, as part of his agenda, he would meet with the Peruvian community residing in Los Angeles on the 11th, in order to talk with compatriots abroad, and then return to the country.

Remember that this will be the Castillo’s first trip abroad after his participation in the XIV Meeting of the Peru-Ecuador Binational Cabinet, held in Loja at the end of April, an event that is remembered for the problems that the president had to face when returning to the country, after the plane that was supposed to take him to national territory failed and he was forced to return by land.
This month, the president had requested to Congress the authorization to travel to Switzerland and attend the summit of the World Economic Forum, which will take place in the city of Davos. However, Castillo subsequently declined his participation, citing the critical national situation as a result of the political and social crisis.

“My Government is committed to safeguarding, defending the interests of Peruvians, especially the most vulnerable. We have emergencies related to the social situation that we will try to resolve immediately. The situation forces me to stay in the country to deal with the problems that have arisen,” the chief executive said in a statement.
