Scam: 26 tourists live a nightmare in Arequipa

What should have been a pleasure trip ended up becoming a nightmare for the 26 people from Cajamarca, because the woman who was supposed to be the guide took the 39 thousand soles.

Maruja Poma, one of the victims, said that Lisette Guzmán García approached the union of workers at the University of Cajamarca offering a trip to different cities, such as Puno, Cusco and Bolivia.

At least 5 retirees and 21 other people, including children, traveled on May 15 from Cajamarca to Lima by plane and then to Cuscobut in the Imperial City they were put up in a hotel that they considered lousy.

For tourists, the scam became evident when they traveled to Fistbecause Lisette did not accompany them, When they arrived in that region, the woman told them over the phone that they should travel to Puno to give them the new tickets.

With no one to turn to, they decided travel with their own resources to Arequipa on May 18, but the woman did not answer the cell phone again. It was when they discovered that Lisette had a history of fraud complaints.

After presenting the complaint at the Santa Marta Police Station, the visitors returned to Cajamarca today with their own resources.
