Relatives of victims requested this Thursday in the Buenos Aires Legislature that the draft “comprehensive law against institutional violence” presented by the Front for All (FdT) be discussed and they affirmed that “it can save lives that are valuable to all”.

The relatives participated in the meeting of the Security Commission of the Legislature, and among them was Félix Demonty, Ezequiel’s brother.

The project for a “comprehensive law against institutional violence” it was presented in May 2021 by legislator Lucía Cámpora (FdT) and bears the signatures of her fellow block members María Bielli, Ofelia Fernández, Victoria Montenegro, Laura Velasco, legislator Claudio Morresi and legislator Lorena Pokoik.

The initiative proposes create complaints reception centers attended by personnel other than the police and a registry of institutional violence that is in charge of classifying the complaints that occur within the scope of the City of Buenos Aires.

In his turn, he spoke Nora Diaz, mother of Camila Arjona, I affirm that her daughter “was killed by a police officer from behind and was five months pregnant” and added: “We ask that you study this law and help it come out so that they do not continue to kill our children and children. I speak on behalf of all the Mothers in Struggle.”

“We don’t want the kids in our neighborhoods to continue being victims of institutional violence because they are dark-haired, because they wear a branded cap, because they dress well,” he added.

Mothers in Struggle Against Impunity is a movement made up of relatives of victims of institutional violence.
