The increase varies according to region, family income and population of the municipality. The information is from the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR).

According to the ministry, the expansion of the subsidy aims to facilitate the acquisition of a home and increase the number of homes delivered. The measure takes effect in early June and runs until December 31, 2022.

“A family in São Paulo with an average gross monthly income of R$1,800, for example, will have the average subsidy adjusted from R$38,100 to R$42,900. For a family in João Pessoa (PB) with an average gross monthly income of R$1,800, the average subsidy will increase from R$29,900 to R$34,000,” the ministry said in a statement.

In the first four months of the year, the program has already made it possible to hire 100,000 housing units, according to the MDR. With the increase in the subsidy, the government expects 400,000 units to be contracted throughout the year.

In 2021, about 350,000 families benefited from the program, through financing with resources from the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS).

“The change in the subsidy must be immediately implemented by the main financial agent, Caixa Econômica Federal”, explained the ministry, assuring that the measure “will not imply changes in the discount budget approved by the FGTS Board of Trustees, corresponding to R$ 8.5 billion by 2022”.
