Father Edwing Román once again confronted Daniel Ortega, whom he accused of “buying security” and “love,” referring to the fidelity that the Nicaraguan Police and Army have shown him.
Mr. Daniel Ortega: How are you doing? Certainly with abundance of fortune, but without freedom and without power; because the latter rests in the Army and the police with his weapons », the prelate pointed out through his Twitter account.

From exile in the United States, the priest questioned the Nicaraguan president, did he already think what would happen to you and your family if you stopped buying “loves” with them —the Police and the Army?—. Think about it”.
Father Román has become a recognized figure in the country. Since 2018, he has joined the general demand of the people demanding justice, freedom and democracy for the country. In addition, he has called for respect for the human rights of prisoners of conscience.

The religious was in charge of the San Miguel Arcángel de Masaya parish until the end of 2021. Currently, he is with Monsignor Silvio Báez at the Santa Agatha Church in Miami, United States. According to the priest, he has decided to postpone his stay in the North American country to protect his life.
