A controversial bill was presented by Together for Change (JxC), with the aim of imposing sanctions; among them, the prison; a picketers associations and social organizations that commit crimes in public demonstrations.
The initiative that was headed by the PRO deputy, Gerardo Milman, also intends to penalize the organizations who commit violations such as “the free movement of citizens”. This, given the recent cuts in the picketers in the city.
It also seeks to punish those who prevent citizens from “freely carrying out their productive or commercial tasks,” crimes for which the bill states that picketers have up to two years in prison.
“It will be punished with imprisonment from three months to two years” states the documentit also aims to “suppress legal status and the seizure of assets, bank accounts or assets for the purpose of compensation and/or economic reparation.”
The text also points out that those who participate in these crimes should be stripped of the economic support granted by the State through different social plans, which became widespread as of 2002.
The JxC legislators also claim that these plans have generated a dependency of the organizations on the State, which in turn means “an increase in state power over them.”
Milman also argues that “The payment of the plan requires as consideration the performance of a task of attending the marches and pickets, since this is a condition that establishes the movement to receive the plan”.
Why do you want to sanction the picketers?
The opposition initiative is promoted after weeks ago, the organizations social will hold various demonstrations; even, a camp for days in the City.
This situation made it difficult to move and carry out other activities, which is why several JxC leaders indicated from that moment that they would take measures to avoid cuts and, in addition, suspend aid to those who promote them.
