In October and November, the Administrator of the Resources of the General System of Social Security in Health (Adres) made the turn of $ 1.83 trillion to hospitals, clinics and other health service providers that provided their services to care for patients diagnosed with covid-19, through the Covid-19 Baskets mechanism, established by the National government.
“These resources for the payment of medical services are used to care for patients with coronavirus. This means, those services of hospitalization, ICU, medicines, respiratory and physical therapies, among others, that the affiliates of the health system required during this time of pandemic.”Said Jorge Gutiérrez Sampedro, general director of Adres.

51% of these resources were directed directly to 818 medical centers who have treated coronavirus cases through EPS. The money corresponds to $ 931,188 million. The surplus, 49% ($ 894,770 million), was transferred to the EPS that certified not to have debts with the provider network that attended the pandemic.
67.45% ($ 616.903 million) was transferred to private institutions, 29.42% ($ 269,045 million) to public institutions and 3.13% ($ 28,608 million) to institutions of a mixed nature, located mainly in Bogotá, Valle del Cauca, Antioquia, Santander and Caldas.

“These resources are used to settle those medical bills for covid-19 services that were pending payment, for that reason the direct transfer to medical institutions with the information reported by the EPS was privileged. Only resources were turned to 19 EPS that certified before the Ministry of Health that they had no outstanding debts for this concept with hospitals and clinics”Gutiérrez assured.
On November 25 and 26, a new reporting period was enabled of the account information for covid-19 services that the EPS have pending, to proceed to validate and make the transfer of the resources that were assigned and that have not yet been disbursed.
