Bolivia will expand the service of two laboratories for the detection of positive cases of monkeypox, As confirmed by the director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health, Freddy Armijo, within the framework of prevention measures in the face of the global alert for the disease.

The authority explained that one of these spaces will be in the National Institute of Health Laboratories (Inlasa), in La Paz, and the other in the National Center for Tropical Diseases (Cenetrop) from Santa Cruz.​​

Armijo said that health personnel will also be trained and the appropriate conditions are being prepared for handling this type of situation, for this reason The acquisition of tests or reagents is being promoted to have the diagnosis.

The Ministry of Health, He reported that from May 23 were activated epidemiological surveillance mechanisms due to the existence of suspected cases of monkeypox in the region, such as Argentina.

Minister Auza pointed out that the incubation period of the disease ranges from five to 21 days, and its detection is carried out by means of a PCR test. However, the vaccination that existed many years ago reduces the possibility of contracting the disease to a minimum.
