The Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (Ineter) explained that on the afternoon of May 25, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 and a depth of 29 kilometers was reported. According to the report, the telluric movement originated 62 kilometers southwest of Masachapa and affected the Pacific region of Nicaragua.

The Nicaraguan government spokesperson, Rosario Murillo, reported in her communication with official media that the National System for Disaster Prevention, Mitigation and Attention (Sinapred) will continue to monitor the situation. “So far there have been no aftershocks and we hope to continue like this, we remain vigilant and vigilant to attend to any major emergency,” said Murillo.
