President Ivan Duque finished his work trip to Europe, where he had meetings in Switzerland (World Economic Forum), Turkey and the United Kingdom, achieving economic and investment agreements and commitments for the country, according to the Presidency of the Republic.

With respect to Turkey, this country raised the bilateral relationship with Colombia to the degree of ‘strategic ally’, “confirming the interest of business sectors to increase their presence in the country and making investments for more than 200 million dollars.”
As for the United Kingdom, Colombia formalized with the British authorities the FTA.
In this regard, Duque said that he believes that “The general balance of this entire process has been, first, to continue advancing in the investment of the United Kingdom in our country. There was a very specific message, that there were, already, more than 400 million dollars of investment that will materialize very soon”.

Finally, of his participation in the World Economic Forum, Duque stated that “The result is the strengthening of ties with other governments, and the interest of many of the companies that have participated, in materializing investments in renewable energies, in the hotel, metalworking and concessions sectors.“.
Likewise, he referred to his participation in the Biodiverciudades panel, in which he raised this concept and in which he commented that Colombia has advanced with specific cases such as those of Bogota and Barranquilla. For Duque, this is a model to be replicated by other cities in the world.

He considered that, if a network of cities of this type is achieved, “then we will be really aligning these concepts to be able to protect nature and to be able to reduce carbon footprints”.
In the Economic Forum, Duque had other important meetings, such as with the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel; the presidents of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves; Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, and the Vice President of Peru, Dina Boluarte.
With the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, he said that “we are advancing on the issues of satellite cooperation and mobilizing capital funds from Luxembourg to invest in business development in Colombia”.
With the Dominican president, Duque declared that the advances in the agreements of partial scope, to increase trade between the two countries.

And with the Costa Rican president, he confirmed the increase in the cooperation on security issues and greater openness for trade and investment.
