Father Harving Padilla rules out exile, will be relocated to another parish

After four days of police and paramilitary siege against Father Harving Padilla, Article 66 learned that the prelate is sheltered in the La Purisima Seminary, in Managua.

The human rights defense attorney Yonarqui Martínez reported through her Twitter account that “the life and integrity of Father Harving Padilla is paramount.”

The jurist explained that the priest “at this moment is recovering strength. He is not in exile. We hope that the persecution of the Church will end once and for all.

This media outlet learned that Padilla will not continue as pastor of the San Juan Bautista church in Masaya, and that he is expected to relocate to another parish in the country.

In reference to a possible exile, Father Harving Padilla —according to sources— has ruled it out and like the once again political prisoner Yubrank Suazo, who refused to go into exile, the priest has assured that “he will not leave his country.”
