ANEP received a donation of mobile phones that it will distribute among students

Authorities of the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP) agreed with the Telefónica Movistar Foundation to promote projects that incorporate technology into the classroom. In this sense, on May 24, the donation of 200 cell phones to the ANEP program in Acción Casavalle was made, which will be destined for secondary school students in that area who have the greatest needs.

The activity, held at the ANEP headquarters, was attended by the president of the Central Board of Directors (Codicen), Robert Silva; the general secretary, Virginia Cáceres; the national director of Telecommunications, Guzmán Acosta y Lara; the manager of the Telefónica Movistar Foundation, María Noel Orellano, and the company’s CEO, José Luis Aiello.

The signed document establishes an institutional framework to promote the incorporation of technology in the classroom, as well as the exchange of knowledge that allows innovation in learning and academic cooperation. The Telefónica Movistar Foundation has collaborated in this sense with ANEP for more than 10 years.

Robert Silva highlighted the importance of joining efforts and formalizing joint actions. He also highlighted the value of using technology to train students as future citizens.

As he explained, this challenge is inserted in the framework of the educational development plan as a transversal line. He assured that “a lot has been done” and invited them to be disruptive and join forces.

This program is characterized by a territorial approach, through which it intervenes in schools, high schools and technical schools. The agreement was signed to generate targeted opportunities, and in this case it materialized with the delivery of 200 cell phones that will be distributed among students with the greatest needs, reported Silva.

In addition, the initiative aims to develop computational thinking actions. “Education opens doors and generates opportunities,” she specified.

This agreement reaffirms the commitment of the Fundación Telefónica Movistar to digital education, and gives continuity to the cooperative work that has been carried out for more than a decade, explained the manager of the Foundation, María Noel Orellano.
