OPP and Municipalities invest more than 90 million pesos in productive projects

“3% of each Interior Development Fund of each administration is used to plan projects linked to production. Currently, 90 million pesos are committed to initiatives related to tourism, agricultural and horticultural production”, said the coordinator of Decentralization of OPP, María de Lima, at the meeting of the Network of Directors of Departmental Governments.

At the meeting, this May 24 at the Florida Milk Producers Society, Lima was accompanied by the president of the Congress of Mayors, Guillermo López; the board of directors of the National Development Agency (ANDE) headed by its president, Carmen Sánchez; the Director of Sustainable Development of the Municipality of Florida, Enzo Viscailuz, and the 19 Directors of Development of the departmental governments.

In an interview with Presidential Communication, De Lima highlighted that the Planning and Budget Office (OPP) articulates the projects of the Interior Development Fund (FDI) of the 19 municipalities. Every 45 days a meeting is held in which the needs are raised and the implementation of the projects that originate is analyzed, he added.

3% of each Interior Development Fund for each administration is allocated to the planning of projects linked to production, and there are currently 90 million pesos committed to initiatives related to tourism, agricultural and horticultural production, as explained.

There are also productive projects with a cultural focus; In addition, value chains with common goals are promoted through the municipalities and ministries.

In this regard, de Lima announced that on May 31 in Colonia the Artisanal Cheese program will be presented by seven municipalities and three ministries.

“The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, has taken this policy as a trigger to generate jobs and economic development,” assured de Lima.

He mentioned that some of the important projects that the country has are the Horticultural Center of Salto; Sustainable Paysandú, which empowers the horticultural producer to generate irrigation infrastructure in the farms; or animal breeding fields to promote rural production. Likewise, emphasis is placed on tourism in Tacuarembó, and the Pando Logistics Pole is promoted, together with the Canelones Municipality.

For her part, Carmen Sánchez said that she attended this meeting to disseminate the activities of ANDE, an entity that opened 18 SME Centers in 15 departments of Uruguay, with tools for entrepreneurs and companies.

He specified that the agency works on the digitalization of MSMEs, through a program that it launched in April together with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). In addition, it consolidates a circular economy network and environmental sustainability projects with lines of financing and technical assistance.
