Senator Simone Tebet, pre-candidate for the presidency of the MDB and Cidadania, said at a press conference in Brasília this Wednesday (25) that she will end the existing polarization in the country in the political field. “My biggest mission is to make peace with people. It’s talking to people. And solve everyone’s problem. That’s why I’m willing to be at the side of these public men from other parties who will come to say that Brazil has a way. I believe,” said Simone Tebet. 
The MDB and Citizenship parties confirmed on Tuesday night (24) the name of the senator as nominated to run for the Presidency of the Republic. In a note, the president of the National Executive Committee for Citizenship, Roberto Freire, said that the party seeks, with the pre-candidacy, to maintain democracy “in its fullness” and guarantee the free exercise of institutions.
“With Simone Tebet, MDB, PSDB and Cidadania take a concrete step towards maintaining democracy with a common program: designing Brazil for the 21st century. An encounter with the new digital world, the new social and work relationships and the challenges they bring. Liberals, environmentalists, the new left and all those who have freedoms and democracy as universal values are expected to join.
Simone Tebet is 52 years old, a lawyer and a senator. She was born in Três Lagoas (MS) and, in 2002, became a state deputy. In 2004, she was elected mayor of her hometown. In 2008, she was re-elected to the same position. In 2011, she was elected deputy governor of Mato Grosso do Sul. In 2014, she was elected to the Federal Senate for an eight-year term.
