MIAMI, United States. – The Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), described as “vile” the criticism of his plans to hire 500 Cuban doctors, recently announced during his visit to the Island.
“It is vile that for political, ideological reasons, for conservatism, for a retrograde way of thinking, the hiring of Cuban doctors is disqualified,” said this Tuesday during his daily press conference.
Trying to evade further criticism, AMLO also assured that his government will first hire nationals, especially thousands of medical specialists that are required in the country.
However, he did not avoid attacking the doctors of his own country, of whom he said that “they do not want to work in La Montaña de Guerrero, in addition to the fact that others know New York better than Chiapas.”
“The neoliberal model left the country without doctors,” said AMLO, who also announced that he intends “fill with Mexican doctors as far as possible.” However, she said, she knows that they are not going to have all the specialists that the country requires.
AMLO justifies his plans
At that point, he took the opportunity to justify his plans with the island’s regime: “Cuban doctors have already been helping when Covid, we thank them very much.”
At the beginning of May, during AMLO’s visit to the island, the Mexican government and the Cuban authorities signed an agreement on health for hiring half a thousand doctors by the Aztec country.
“During this visit we have signed a declaration that consolidates a new stage in the bilateral relationship between Mexico and Cuba. Our Health Ministers published a cooperation agreement that facilitates taking advantage of all the health and scientific potentialities of joint efforts and wills that we can develop between our countries in the field of health for the benefit of our peoples in this noble area,” said the president. Miguel Díaz-Canel at the conclusion of the official acts of the Mexican president’s working visit.
