In the social networks, in the middle of the final stretch for the presidential elections, it is usual to read the citizens, regardless of their political side, criticizing the positions and proposals of the different candidates, questioning and making suggestions to what each one of them proposes. presidential candidates.

Seeking to know the current issues that most interest citizens in the face of the elections, The Change.org platform carried out the #SiYoFueraPresidente campaign, in which more than 1,800,000 Colombians participated.

Then the 10 topics that Colombians would propose:

  • Request UNESCO to declare the moors in Colombia as a World Heritage Site.
  • Guarantee a fair price for the commercialization of the grain to the country’s coffee growers.
  • Promote the reduction of the salary of congressmen and that in turn the increase in their salary be frozen

  • I would build greenways on country roads for animals
  • I would urgently declare a climate emergency throughout Colombia
  • It would free the Cauca river from the Hidroituango project
  • It would prohibit the export of live animals in Colombia

  • I would dismantle Esmad for multiple human rights violations

This Wednesday, May 25, the creators of these petitions will deliver to the presidential candidates at their campaign headquarters the signatures they collected on each of the proposals, through a tour they will take in a vehicle that they have baptized the “Bus del Cambio” –

The objective of this meeting, which will be face-to-face with each of the presidential candidates and their campaign teams, “It is that citizens can socialize their proposals and achieve concrete commitments from the candidates so that they include these issues in their respective government plans,” said Diana Durán, director of Change.org Colombia

So far there are confirmed appointments with the campaigns of Gustavo Petro, Rodolfo Hernandez and Sergio Fajardo. It remains to be confirmed Fico Gutiérrez who has not responded to the invitation.

It is worth noting that the candidates will be able to respond to each proposal through the official social networks of the platform or through the website: https://www.change.org/. Likewise, during the meeting that will be held with the citizens in person.

Subsequently, Durán adds, “the more than 1,800,000 citizens who supported these proposals with their digital signatures will have the opportunity to monitor them so that the agreed actions are fulfilled and not just promises.”

To highlight, the Electoral Observation Mission (MOE), worked hand in hand with Change.org to ensure the transparency of the #SiYoFueraPresidente movement and each of its 28 proposals.

“This citizen initiative helps the electoral debate to be richer and deeper every day, so that people have more and better information, which will strengthen their decision when they arrive at the polls this Sunday,” said Aura Rodríguez, coordinator of the EOM, Bogota regional.
