80% of Chirican production is affected when road closures are recorded due to the fact that they lose their freshness or are damaged without the corresponding cold chain.
Members of the agricultural sector, in the province of Chiriquí, continue to ask indigenous groups to avoid street closures, because they harm the economy and the reactivation of the country.
Abdel Torres, from the Chamber of Commerce Chapter of Chiriquí, asked the Government not to let the demands of the communities harm third parties and to seek concrete solutions that are of benefit to all.
He highlighted that practically 80% of the products that travel to the capital and provinces are perishable products; In other words, without a good cold chain system, they can be damaged without being marketed due to road closures.
“When these dams occur, the losses are considerable since once the product loses its freshness and cold chain, the consumer does not receive the product according to how it should be received,” he said.
He stressed that they are concerned about the number of closures recorded in recent days, so he called on the authorities to enforce the law, preventing citizens and the economy from being more affected.
