Senate must analyze lists of candidates for TSJE: “We Colorados do not have any candidates”

Hoy Paraguay

After the Council of the Judiciary has formed the two lists of candidates for the position of minister of the Superior Court of Electoral Justice, it is up to the Chamber of Senators to define the replacements for María Elena Wapenka and Alberto Ramírez Zamobini, who ceased to be TSJE ministers after taking advantage of the retirement benefit.

Senator Antonio Barrios mentioned in an interview with the Apunto – GEN – Nación Media program that as colorados, they have nothing to do with the election of the TSJE. They will study and choose those who are most suitable according to their preparation and curriculum, according to what he said.

For the congressman, the best have been elected and they are waiting for the bill to reach the Senate to decide. He reiterated that “the Colorados do not have any Colorado candidates in these shortlists, we have nothing to do with them, so we will evaluate their resume and their preparation to choose the best.”

The chartist politician questioned the gangster attitude of certain opposition actors who tried to truncate the formation of the shortlists.

At another time, Barrios indicated that an extraordinary session could be called if warranted, and he believes that the analysis will be determined between this week and the next.

For his part, Eduardo González, representative of the ANR, also assured in an interview with radio Universo 970 – Nación Media that neither the shortlists nor the candidates for members of the TSJE are linked to the Colorado Party. “It’s the opposition who want to place their candidates,” he said.

He argued that this situation of uncertainty is due to the ineptitude of Efraín Alegre, who does not know how to unite. “They spend throwing tantrums,” he stressed.

He also said that the Senate can analyze the lists, but cannot review the process, since that would be entering another institutional body.

THE CONFORMATION OF BOTH TERMS

After many delays and great uncertainty, the Council of the Judiciary finally formed yesterday, Monday, the two short lists of candidates for the position of minister of the Superior Court of Electoral Justice (TSJE).

After the controversy that arose last week after there were only 5 candidates left in the final instance, an insufficient number to make up the two required short lists, a reconsideration of the score of lawyer Gustavo López was finally carried out, for which he became the sixth list name. In this way, it was possible to move on to the shaping process.

The first shortlist was made up of Emilio Camacho, César Rossel and Édgar Urbieta, while the second was made up of Myriam Cristaldo, Jorge Bogarín González and Gustavo López.
