Recently, Congresswoman Nieves Esmeralda Limachi Quispe, former Free Peru, generated controversy by presenting a bill that sought to completely change the Peruvian flag in its shape and colors.
Thus, the proposal of the Democratic Peru parliamentarian reflected the clamor of citizen Marco Mendoza Huamán, who in his book “Let’s innovate and amend the color and design of our national flag”explains the reasons why a change of this magnitude is necessary.
Huaman proposed this idea to the congresswoman limachi on December 29, 2021. However, the citizen had already sent the project to the congressman Raul Machaca (Frepap), between 2020 and 2021, but its process did not advance.
What would the new flag look like?
The idea of changing this banner assumes four colors: green, yellow, red and blue with a sun on the left side.
The green color would represent the Peruvian jungle, the yellow color the mountains, the red the entire coastal region and the blue the sea.
The first three colors would appear horizontally on the flag and the blue of the sea in the form of a triangle on the left side.
For citizen Marco Mendoza, it would also be important to add a symbol such as the sun, which he called a “symbol of life”, the same one that represented “a god for the Incas”.
