Ecointensa: reforestation of burned forests

Ecointensa: reforestation of burned forests

Forest reforestation

WATCH VIDEO

Have you ever planted a tree? And if you did, have you ever thought about planting trees in burned areas? Sometimes, when forest fires break out in the hottest seasons, people feel the need to replace those trees, to sow and plant in order to reforest. Fortunately, I recently met an organization that helps us realize that desire to take action.

During the long weekend of Holy Week I participated in a reforestation organized by Reforestarg, in the town of Cholila, northwest of the province of Chubut.

At the beginning of 2015, that area was the scene of one of the largest fires in our country.

On that occasion, almost 50,000 hectares caught fire, even affecting part of the Los Alerces National Park and the Lago Puelo National Park. This fire destroyed native forests that were home to hundreds of animals.

From 2015 to today, 7 years have passed and although part of the flora was able to resprout, there are other species, such as cypresses and coihues, that require some help. That is why those were the species chosen to plant by the 50 volunteers who participated in the planting.

Although sometimes we feel that everything is lost, let us remember that there are many people doing their best to build a better world. Get informed and remember that it is never too late to change your habits.
