Alessandra Gilda Herrera Jara swore tonight like Minister of Energy and Minesbefore the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, in a ceremony held at the Government Palace.
Herrera returns to this office to replace Carlos Palacioswho took office in February this year.
Palacios leaves the Energy and Mines portfolio after not being able to solve the social conflict between the communities and the MMG mining company The Bambas.
It should be noted that Palacios questioned the presence of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Roberto Sánchez, as the political actor leading the talks -on behalf of the Government- with the communities and the mining company.

“I don’t know what Roberto Sánchez is doing in Las Bambas. (He has been commissioned by the premier to lead the talks in Las Bambas ‘) That’s what they say… I don’t dislike him but it’s like I’m going to solve the problem in the lack of cotton “, said.
The community members who invaded the company’s property on April 14 maintain that MMG Las Bambas has failed to comply with its commitments since 2014, when they sold the land.
In addition, on Friday, May 20, the parliamentarian of Avanza País, Diego Bazán, obtained the necessary signatures to formally present the motion of censure against the then head of the Energy and Mines portfolio, Carlos Palacios.
Among the arguments that support the motion are the bad designations that Palacios would have made and that “These appointments are a sample of the terrible management of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, which prioritizes political affiliation or militancy over the professional qualities of the people who hold management positions in the aforementioned sector”.
