“For me, the first issue that will be in the political debate in 2024 is security. For me it is perhaps the debate of debates, and it will be present in the presidential contest on the 24th, since it has not been mitigated or resolved in the country (…) it is not an issue localized in one state; it is a matter of national strategy that we have not been able to deal with successfully,” he said.
When I was governor of Zacatecas I had the honor of symbolically directing the State Symphony Orchestra. Today I relived that experience, with great talents who performed the “Zacatecas March”, by composer Genaro Codina, known as the second National Anthem. pic.twitter.com/e7qqdOnEZd

The senator participated this Sunday in the closing of the exhibition “Zacatecas, land of artists”, in the alternate headquarters of the Senate, in the Casona de Xicoténcatl, before officials, legislators and prominent politicians from Zacatecas.
In one of the moments he took the baton and “symbolically” directed the Zacatecas Symphony Orchestra, so at the end, in an interview, the legislator stated: “just as I led the state band, with harmony and attitude, that is how I will lead the country”.
Given that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador does not consider him a presidential candidate, Monreal said that he is “in a democratic party and there are people who want him to participate, and I am going to do it.” He reiterated that he will not step down from the internal process.
However, he also acknowledged that he does not carry out tasks to integrate a structure that drives him in his aspiration, since he will wait for the legal times.
During the event, in his message, Monreal stated that he will not return to live in his native Zacatecas until the year 2030. “Not right now because I have a lot of work here, after the 30th I am going to live there,” he said, alluding to his aspiration to compete in 2024.
In reference to the race for the Morenista presidential candidacy, which disputes other officials, the senator said that when the next six-year term ends, he will return to live in his state. “After the 30th I am going to live in Plateros, there in the Puebla del Palmar Ranch, there I will find them,” he said to applause.
Before the governor of the state, his brother David Monreal, he acknowledged that Zacatecas is experiencing a very difficult situation of insecurity, but “they left him with a broken state” and with a “mercilessly destroyed” social fabric.
