The Indrhi leaves the Monsieur Bogaert canal in operation

The Monsieur Bogaert irrigation channel is officially in operation, so irrigation is restored in more than 100,000 tasks in the towns of Platanal, Hatillo San Lorenzo, El Túnel, Piedra Gorda, Sabana Grande, Los Almácigos, Cuesta Arena, Batey I and Los Guandules, also the supply of water to the aqueducts of La Canela, Barrio Lindo, La Herradura, Guatapanal, Jinamagao and Hato del Yaque.

Earlier this month the canal suffered a break due to the rains, which affected agricultural activity in the area.

Olmedo Caba Romano, executive director of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (Indrhi), indicated that the rehabilitation actions in the collapsed section of the canal as it passes through the Batey 1 community in La Canela were coordinated from the first day of the event with the irrigation users of the area with the objective that the production would not be seen affected.

Also, the regional director of the Indrhi at the Alto Yaque del Norte address, Rafael Romero, stated that the work was carried out uninterruptedly, arranging two work shifts. “We cannot fail those who are in charge of our food guarantee,” the official added during the channel’s launch.

Marcos Rodríguez, assistant to the general director of the Santiago Aqueduct and Sewerage Corporation (Coraasan), gave a guarantee for the start-up of the La Canela aqueduct and others managed by Inapa, which were out of service as a result.
