Ambassador of Israel explains why his country does not participate in the construction of the DR-Haiti wall

Embajador de Israel explica porqué su país no participa en la construcción de muro RD-Haití

ANDThe Israeli ambassador to the Dominican Republic He clarified that his government is not participating in the execution of the wall that is being built on the border strip with Haiti, because the Dominican government decided to build something different from what the Hebrew State knows how to do.

Daniel Biran Bayor He explained that the wall that they have built in their country is intelligent, that it does not need almost a wall, but intelligence, and sophisticated equipment that they can sell, install and operate.

Biran Bayor clarified that this is a decision of the Dominican government, but they are ready for anything the authorities want, because they are collaborating in all areas, and defined the relations of both countries as of the highest level.

Interviewed by Héctor Herrera Cabral in the D’AGENDA program that is broadcast every Sunday by Telesistema channel 11 and TV Quisqueya for the United States, the Hebrew diplomat said with respect to the wall, that he decided to do something that is not in his way of working.

He added that what is being built is something simpler than what they intended to do, and he has no idea what is being done.

“We give advice, but in the end we did not participate in the project, we presented it during the bidding, but they decided to do something different from what we know how to do, because our wall is intelligent, it really does not need almost a wall, it needs intelligence and sophisticated equipment that we we can sell, install and, of course, operate”, detailed the Israeli diplomatic representative in the country.

He insisted that “that was the government’s decision that we accepted and we are ready for anything that, of course, we should approach, and I can say that in different areas we are collaborating with the government, in all areas, and relations are of the highest level”.

“Not at this time, because they decided to do something that is not in our way of working, which is something simpler than what we can, or wanted to do,” Ambassador Biran answered when asked if Israeli businessmen were participating in the wall construction.

In another order, the diplomat highlighted the progress that the Dominican Republic has experienced in the cyber fight in the financial area.

“And when we present solutions, we do it with tests, because I can say many nice things, but I tell all my friends here, who can see in different areas such as agriculture, telemedicine, cybersecurity, to travel to Israel so they can see Everything, that’s why we did the Central Bank cybersecurity project, operated by Dominicans who went to study in Israel and they are talented at the highest level,” he said.

He stressed that relations between the two countries are at a good moment, “we hope that we can move forward in having direct flights Israel-Punta Cana, and Israel-Dominican Republic in general, because Israeli tourists travel all over the world.”

“I think we can export more fruit from here to Israel, at least mangoes, which are consumed enormously all year round and we pay a lot of money, we export 900 tons of pineapples, and that is the largest export, in the case of Israel to the Dominican Republic. Of course, it exports much more in the areas of cybersecurity, agriculture, fertilizers, drip irrigation systems, and in other areas,” he explained.

He acknowledged that the balance in terms of relations trade favors Israel, but it is still not enough because that can be increased, since there are businessmen who are investing here in the country, to the point that he recently met someone who is going to invest in Cabarete to generate 2,500 jobs, for which can ensure that there is great interest in Israel to invest in the Dominican Republic.

Israel proposes plan to solve the water problem that exists in the Dominican Republic

Daniel Biran reported that businessmen from his country are interested in investing in the solution of water problems as has been done in his nation, which in the next three years can already guarantee the precious liquid for the next 60 years to that Hebrew nation.

The diplomat, who was accompanied by his countryman Ari Fischer an agronomist expert in water solutions in the area of precision agriculture and water treatment, who has led several projects in Latin America and Africa, said that the Dominican Republic has the resources to solve the water supply for future generations.

“Look, I come from a country where 68 percent of its territory is desert, there is no rain, there is no water, and we can sell water to the world, and it is not only that we are the land promised by God, it is because of the great work that our leaders did a long time ago, who understood that there would be no water in that region and sought solutions”, explained Ambassador Biran.

He added that they dedicated themselves to using the drip irrigation system, wastewater purification, and desalination of sea water, and for this reason, in two or three years Israel will have solved the water problem for the next 60 years, and they will even be able to sell water to the rest of the world.

“On the contrary, we have five desalination plants, we started two more, and one of the main issues is that Mr. Ari Fischer is in the country to continue negotiations with the government, consulting with the government, that we have very good relations, and see how we can move forward, because the problems that exist here are known by very high-level Dominican engineers, who know everything, we have experiences and solutions, and we can execute these solutions very quickly”, the diplomat confided.

While the engineer Fischer recalled that the plan for water supply in Israel began in 1937, before the creation of the State, in that year they had water for 600 thousand inhabitants, and today they produce the liquid for 15 million people, of which which nine million are Israeli, four million Jordanian, and two million Palestinian.

Regarding the cost of the investment and its possible financing, Ambassador Biran explained that there are ways that they can be presented, since the large desalination systems come with financing, which can range from 20 to 300 million dollars, and The good thing is that businessmen want to be partners here in the country, it is not to sell something and leave, and there is great interest in Israel in investing in the country, the environment is very positive, so there are solutions in that sense.

Both Fischer and Biran warned that the population must be educated about the need not to waste water, and also that they know that they have to pay for consumption.

They defended the quality of desalinated water for human consumption, which can also be used for irrigation, preferably using modern systems such as drip irrigation.

Ensures that Israel is a country that seeks and promotes peace with its neighbors in the region

The Israeli ambassador to the Dominican Republic said that his country is a champion of peace and this is demonstrated by the relations that his country has been expanding with its neighbors in the region.

“The message It is very simple, there is no other way, only peace, peace and peace, and we have peace with Jordan, Egypt, we signed more than a year ago with the United Arab Emirates, with Sudan, Morocco, we have very good relations with Saudi Arabia even though it is not formal”, Daniel Biran highlighted.

He added that they have airline exchanges with Saudi Arabia, a country that is going to invest more than two billion dollars in innovation next year, which means that they do not officially have diplomatic relations with that country, but rather economic relations.

“And there is no other path, the path of peace is the strongest, correct, honest, and we do not lose faith, who thought that Isaac Rabin and Yasser Arafat were going to give each other the hands In Washington, and they gave it to him,” he recalled.

He clarified that, unfortunately, the Gaza Strip is controlled by Hezbollah and Iran, which are terrorist extremists that are not the government of the Palestinians, the problem is so great that Mahmoud Abbas, who is the president of the Palestinian National Authority, cannot enter. to Gaza.

“But that is an internal matter between them, and from time to time, unfortunately, it is also our problem, but with all that, there are between 30 thousand and 35 thousand workers who enter the construction area from the Gaza Strip to Israel to work every day, earn an honest salary, almost two thousand dollars a month, and in the end, the path of peace is the one that will win”, he sentenced.
