The Ministry of Health reported 5,443 new cases of Covid-19 in Chile, with a positivity rate of 8.7% in the last 24 hours nationwide, after carrying out 61,383 exams, PCR and antigen tests. Daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 12.58%.
The variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is 44% and 93% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively. Meanwhile, no region decreases its cases in the last seven days, while one does so in 14 days.
Of the 5,443 new cases, 33% are diagnosed by antigen test, 42% originate from Active Case Search (BAC) and 22% of those reported are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it presents 29% due to antigen, 36% due to BAC and 16% of the notified cases are asymptomatic.
According to sample collection, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Metropolitan, Valparaíso, O’Higgins and Maule.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan region has the highest current incidence rate per 100 thousand inhabitants, followed by the regions of Valparaíso, Magallanes and Maule.
According to today’s report, of the 5,443 new cases of Covid-19, 2,994 correspond to symptomatic people and 841 have no symptoms. In addition, 1,608 Positive PCR tests were registered that were not reported.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with the virus in the country reaches 3,643,136. Of that total, 26,128 patients are in the active stage. The recovered cases are 3,558,578.
Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there were 8 deaths from causes associated with the coronavirus. The total number of deceased amounts to 57,802 in the country.
To date, 142 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 91 are supported by mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 356 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are located.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, the results of 61,383 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported yesterday, reaching a total of 38,080,050 analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 8.7% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 12.58%.
Regarding the Sanitary Residences, we have 28 accommodation facilities, with a total of 2,397 beds. The actual occupancy at the national level is 45%, leaving a total of 1,007 beds available for use.
