The Civil Defense Department of Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, has already completed more than 10,000 inspection reports of areas and properties affected by the February and March storms this year, which killed more than 240 people. This number represents 93.4% of the total records registered in areas of about 60 locations. Of the 10,777 occurrences, most were caused by landslides, which represent 76% of the cases. So far, more than 6,900 interdiction reports have been reported in the city.
Civil Defense maintains reinforced teams for the completion of all assistance related to the rains. The technical teams carry out daily inspections throughout the city. On Wednesday (18), 13 teams inspected areas in Caxambu, Bingen, Koeler, Itaipava, Centro, Morin, Quitandinha, Estrada da Saudade, Floresta, Alto da Serra, Siméria, Thouzet and São Sebastião.
The places with the highest number of registered cases already have more than 90% of inspection requests completed, including Alto da Serra, Chácara Flora, Castelânea, Quitandinha, Centro, São Sebastião, Valparaíso, Independência, Vila Militar, Siméria, Corrêas, Quissamã, Meio da Serra and Retiro.
Residents who are waiting for the inspection report can check the availability of the document at Civil Defense website. In the same environment, the digital version of the report can be requested. The teams also provide face-to-face assistance, from 8 am to 5 pm, and the population can purchase the printed report.
