The Family Food Basket (CAF) in April 2022, had a cost of 2,231.29 bolivars, equivalent to 481.92 dollars, according to the latest report from the Center for Documentation and Social Analysis of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers (Cendas-FMV ). With this result in the month, the increase in national currency was 177.7% compared to the same period in 2021.
In this way, the Venezuelan population needed 17.16 monthly minimum wages to be able to buy the 60 CAF products. In other words, must spend a daily amount of Bs. 74.37 or an average of $16.06. As will be recalled, the minimum monthly wage for a worker is Bs. 130, equivalent to $27 dollars, which is insufficient to pay for the food basket.

In the Cendas report, highlights that the item that increased the most was Fruits and vegetables, which had an average variation of 12.1%; followed by the Roots and tubers group with an increase of 9.6% and the Sugar and salt category with an increase of 5.1% in the month.
According to figures published by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), inflation in April was 4.4%, an acceleration compared to March when it closed at 2.9%. While the accumulated rate for the year (January 2022-April 2022) maintains a three-digit rate (183.8%). Analysts and multilateral organizations affirm that once again Venezuela will end the year among the first places of the countries with the highest inflation in the world.
