A commission made up of deputies of the National Assembly (AN) headed by Carola Chávez, Pedro Infante and Ilenia Medina delivered an agreement to Camilla Fabri on Thursday to demand respect for Alex Saab’s status as a diplomat.
Fabri, wife of the diplomat, received said agreement that was approved on April 6 by the National Assembly to demand respect for his status as a diplomat.
Deputy Pedro Infante stressed that the country is indebted to the diplomat: “It is important that they know that we are still in combat. That National Assembly expresses its solidarity with Alex Saab.”
For her part, deputy Ilenia Medina stressed that within the framework of the dialogue it is necessary to remember Alex Saab’s support for the country in the midst of anonymity. “A person who uses his own resources to help a country is worthy of admiration and respect,” she said.
“That a person lends his entire economic structure to help Venezuela in such a difficult moment, really deserves all the recognition of the State, the Republic, the people. He corresponded that he was at that dialogue table. He had to be there », he limited.
For her part, the diplomat’s wife, Camila Fabri Saab, thanked this agreement unanimously approved by the Venezuelan parliament, expressing “the certainty that we are going to win” in the fight for the freedom of her husband, Álex Saab.
The AN agreement explains how the diplomat Alex Saab was detained illegally and arbitrarily, without an arrest warrant and due to political pressure from the United States.
It adds that Cape Verde refused to abide by the jurisdictional decisions that ordered its release and subsequently carried out its illegal extraction to the United States. This violates conventions and international legal acts, sum.
It is also explained that Alex Saab since 2018 fulfilled functions as a diplomatic agent with the character of special envoy from Venezuela to Russia and Iran.
On that occasion, when the agreement was approved, the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, pointed out that it is a violation of the Vienna Convention and International Law. “It is an act of immeasurable hypocrisy because a country and a government like that of Cape Verde, kidnapped, tortured and subjected to isolation a diplomatic representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” he said he emphasized.
The text was presented by deputy Mario Silva, who stressed that since his kidnapping in Cape Verde on June 12, 2020, “Alex Saab has stoically endured torture, manipulation, kidnappings that violate all laws.”
Alex Saab is part of the national dialogue
