The president of the Autonomous Class Trade Union Confederation (CASC), Gabriel del Rio Doneconsidered yesterday that a culture of prevention of accidents at work in the country, so that they decrease.
He noted that an accident at work not only affects the family when a worker becomes invalid or disabled, but to the company or institution in which he works.
He pointed out that motoconchistas must understand the importance of avoiding an accident at worksince these transport workers are involved in the majority of traffic accidents.
He considered that if the established laws and regulations were complied with in the country, work accidents would be considerably reduced.
Del Río Doñé was interviewed during the celebration of the “Ninth National Congress of Occupational Risks promoting a culture of risk prevention in the workplace”, held in the hotel Barceló Santo Domingo.

He stressed that the Minister of Labor, Luis Miguel De Campsperforms actions to prevent the occurrence of work accidents.
“Work accidents don’t just happen in companies, but in the motoconcho. In the factories there is a great effort to avoid them, ”he said.
While, Mairenys-Cornieldeputy minister for Child Labor and Vulnerable Sectorssaid that the Ministry of Labor works hard in the prevention of work accidents, for which their occurrence has been greatly reduced.
He explained that there are companies that even have certification in hygiene and safety.

Work accidents are events that cause one or more collaborators to suffer personal injury, illness or death.
Del Río Doñé supported the plan for the first youth employment announced by the Ministry of Youth in the presence of President Luis Abinader.

In 2021, the Dominican Institute for the Prevention and Protection of Occupational Risks (IDOPPRIL) received 47,450 employee reports who suffered some type of injury in their usual working hours, of which 38,603 corresponded to work accidents and 8,847 to professional illnesses.
In 2020, the amount was 40,145 workers, in 2019 it reached 49,148 and in 2018 it rose to 45,470.
