The Immigration Directorate and the National Police took control of Ciudad Juan Bosch this Thursday, after yesterday Haitians took them out of the community with sticks, stones and bottle blows, and forced them to flee during an operation to detain undocumented immigrants.

This time, Immigration and the Police returned reinforced with a swat team, police from the so-called Topo and prosecutors; They took over the city, entered the apartments and buildings, where they arrested hundreds of Haitians, who were placed in seven jail trucks.

This time the Haitians did not put up resistance, as happened yesterday, which forced the Police and Immigration agents to flee from Ciudad Juan Bosch, after confronting them with sticks, stones and bottle blows.

Some of the detainees complained that they were imprisoned even though they live in the country legally.

Yesterday, Haitians practically took control of Ciudad Juan Bosch, in Santo Domingo Este, by completely paralyzing construction and making police and security agents flee the community. Migration who went to carry out an illegal arrest operation.

The undocumented immigrants not only confronted the agents, but they also made them leave with stones, sticks and bottle blows, and in the retreat they followed them until they took complete control of the city’s movement.

They are, for the most part, undocumented immigrants who, due to the way they live, dress and the cars they drive, are presumed to be wealthy. The rest are construction workers, who live in the buildings they build.

Yesterday’s action was criticized by the lawyer Alexis Castillo Pantaleón, who said that “the absence of authority in our own country has reached that point and we see the consequence of that cowardly and irresponsible attitude of the officials.”
He commented that today Haiti is a dissolved state and that what happened yesterday shows that its anarchy and lack of authority are already here.

“In the face of this incident and if there are no consequences, if this government does not show signs of exercising authority, this incident can become a torch,” he observed.

The occupation of Ciudad Juan Bosch, by the authorities, occurs after yesterday the director of Migration, Enrique García, warned that this agency will not tolerate undocumented Haitians continuing to confront the authorities with violence to cause disorder, as happened Yesterday.

Garcia recalled that this is not the first time that undocumented Haitians violently confront the Migration Control units that work in the detection and repatriation operations carried out by the institution.

The official stressed that on previous occasions there had been cases of serious violence against Immigration personnel, such as stab attacks, stones and sticks during raids in search of illegal immigrants.
