The Argentine population is 47,327,407 peoplewith a growth of almost 18 percent in relation to 2010, according to the first provisional results of the 2022 census broadcast this Thursday night by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec).
47.05% of the total current population are men and 52.83 women, while 0.12% was not associated with either of these two sexes.
Before the dissemination of these figures, the head of the Indec, Marco Lavagnahad pointed out that the “portion of the population that remains without a census is very small” after this Wednesday’s operation, while it was reported that 18,000 people will be in charge of completing the process for the houses that were not visited during the face-to-face stage.
“We are more than # 47 Million Argentines and Argentines! Today, thanks to everyone’s efforts, we have more certainty to work for a better future,” the president stressed on his Twitter account. Alberto Fernandez the provisional census data were hardly known.

The President also retweeted an Indec post that states: “We are 47,327,407! – These are the first results of the #2022Census that should be interpreted as a trend of the field operation”
According to the provisional figure released this Thursday by the Indec, the population grew 17.97% since the previous census, of 2010, which computed 40,117,096 inhabitants.
In turn, the population had grown by 10.63% between 2010 and the 2001 census, which registered 36,260,130 inhabitants.
The Institute added that the population surveyed through the digital census was 23,813.723, 50.32 percent of the universe to compute.
Until 18 this Thursday, 29,320 homes that had not been registered this Wednesday were recovered through a digital census.
The Argentine population is 47,327,407 people.
Regarding the next dissemination of the results of the 2022 Census, the Indec added that “the preliminary population data by sex, province and department will be presented in 90 days.”
In turn, this morning, the head of the Indec, Marco Lavagnahad stated that “in eight months the final results will be available and in a year and a half the entire census will be processed.”
Lavagna also stated that the “portion of the population that remains without a census is very small,” and it was reported that 18,000 people will be in charge of completing the process for the houses that were not visited during the face-to-face operation carried out this Wednesday throughout the country.
“The portion that remains unregistered is very small, which does not imply that it should not be registered anyway, that is why we have established mechanisms and are working with the provinces,” Lavagna said at Government House, after the Cabinet meeting, together with the chief of Cabinet, Juan Manzur, and other officials.
According to the planning agreed upon in the National Statistical System, from May 19 to 24, the supervision stage will be carried out -provided for in the Census methodology- so that the entire population is correctly accounted for.
Due to the reported cases of people who did not receive the visit of the census takers, the Indec announced last night that the page www.censo.gob.ar is reopened to be able to complete the census form digitally.
“Each one of the 66,000 radio chiefs throughout the country has a record of the homes that could not be visited,” said the Indec on the official website of the census.
In this framework, he specified that, “in the week of supervision, the 18,000 assistants to heads of faction summoned two months ago for this purpose, will take a census of these homes.”
Regarding the face-to-face operation this Wednesday, Lavagna highlighted this morning at the Government House that “it was a very big job that was done in terms of logistics. There were 652,000 people who were on the street taking the census with strong coordination between the Nation, the provinces and the different departments of each province”.
And he continued: “Now comes the stage of the withdrawal of all that information and obviously the analysis, so we are going to announce as soon as we have the results.”
What to do if you have not received a visit from a census taker
Those who did not receive a visit from the census taker and did not complete the digital census have three options to be correctly counted: wait for the census taker during the recovery stage, between May 19 and 24; answer the digital census that is already available from the upper right window of the site www.censo.gob.ar; communicate to 0800-345-2022 or send an email to [email protected] with the following information:
-Subject: “I was not registered”; Name; Province; Party/Department; Location;
Street; Number; Floor and apartment (if it is horizontal property); Email;
Contact telephone number (include area code, and if it is landline or cell phone).
Meanwhile, Lavagna remarked that who carried out the digital census and did not receive a visit from the census taker they do not have to do anything, since they are registered because their information is in the Indec bases.
In turn, some jurisdictions provided their own tools to account for all homes that for some reason were not visited by the census taker on May 18.
In the City of Buenos Aires you can send an email to [email protected] indicating street, number, floor and department and commune plus a contact telephone number or e-mail.
In case of having carried out the digital census, the six-digit code must be reported.
Also neighbors can communicate through the line 147to WhatsApp number 1131937348or to the phones 4032-9106 / 9112 / 9113 / 9145 / 9147.
In the case of the province of Buenos Aires, it was indicated that the mechanisms provided by the INDEC will be followed to carry out the recovery process in those segments of territory that for some reason of force majeure could not be registered.
