Easyjet reduces its losses and expects a boreal summer with flights at pre-pandemic levels

low cost airline easy jet posted a reduced net loss in the first half of its October-March budget, thanks to post-pandemic air traffic recovery, and is optimistic ahead of the summer.

Net loss decreased by 21% to 431 million pounds in the last six months to the end of March, with turnover increasing six-fold to reach 1.5 billion pounds (1,850 million dollars, or 1,770 million euros) in one year, during this period marked by the omicron wave around the Christmas holidays.

The British airline indicated in a statement that it is betting that the flights of the summer season in Europe are “close to the level of 2019“, before the pandemic.

In the third quarter, Easyjet expects to reach a transport capacity of 90% of that of 2019, and in the fourth quarter to 97% compared to the same year.

“The pent-up demand” during the months of lockdown and restrictions on international travel and then “the lifting of restrictions” generated “a strong recovery in sales”, Easyjet said.
