Who should choose their polling place?

The ONPE spokesman pointed out that the platform is aimed at all voters in Peru, aged 18 and over and from all socioeconomic levels, including voters who turn 18 on election day (October 2) and who are eligible to vote.

All people who chose their polling place in general elections, for example in the 2021 general elections, must re-enter the platform and select the three locations, within your district in order of preference until Friday, June 3“, he pointed. In this regard, he noted that each electoral process is different.

Asked why on this occasion the citizen has the duty to enter the platform, Urbina mentioned that we are still in a health context due to COVID-19 and explained that “There are more than 11,300 polling places nationwide that the ONPE makes available to voters, so that on October 2 they do not make long journeys, avoid taking public transport and expose themselves to contagion.”.

What happens if a person does not choose their polling place until June 3?

In this regard, Urbina stressed that It is a very simple and friendly platform, but if anyone has difficulties choosing their polling place, they have the ONPE Phone: 417-0630 at their disposal, which is attended from Monday to Sunday from 8 am to 9 pm to people who have doubts or questions about the platform.

And in case the citizen does not enter the platform until June 3, which is the maximum term to choose their polling place, “ONPE will do it within the district where they live.”

He added that if a person has some type of disability, they can record it in the application so that they can be given preferential attention on election day.

Can I choose a polling place in a district other than my residence?

Before the consultation of users on social networks, the ONPE has responded that the electoral roll closed on October 2, 2021. That is, from that date the updates made to the DNI will not appear in the Elections roll. Regional and Municipal 2022. Therefore a voting center must be chosen in the district that appears as residence on the DNI.

The ONPE has also responded to social network users that last year the 2021 General Elections were held, but this time it is the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections, where we must also elect the mayor of our district. For this reason, it is not possible to choose polling places from another district.
