Cenidh confirms that Ortega sends Víctor Hugo Tinoco home to jail

The justice of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo changed the prison regime to house arrest for the former Nicaraguan vice chancellor and political prisoner Víctor Hugo Tinoco, as confirmed by the Nicaraguan Center for Human Rights (Cenidh).

According to the human rights organization, the hostage of conscience is in his home with some of his relatives. She also pointed out that like all political prisoners who are in jail at home, they are held incommunicado.

Although Tinoco’s family have not specified the time or date on which the former Sandinista guerrilla was taken home, according to the 100% Noticias outlet, close sources stated that at 10 p.m. on Monday, May 16, he entered his home.

It is also known that the causes for which the Ortega dictatorship sent Víctor Hugo Tinoco to house arrest is due to his delicate health situation. In past interviews, Cristian Tinoco, daughter of the also member of the Unión Democrática Renovadora (Unamos) pointed out that his father was seriously affected by his health.

Given this situation, El Cenidh demands that the police authorities clarify his health situation, “which was a cause for concern after the serious risk to his life in El Chipote was disclosed.”

“We demand that they allow him to receive specialized medical attention, full family contact and that he cease to be held incommunicado,” stressed the Nicaraguan Center for Human Rights.

So far, the Ortega dictatorship has sent a total of 10 political prisoners home to jail, however it has been denounced that the repressive actions are greater and have extended conscience to the relatives of the hostages.

The political prisoner Víctor Hugo Tinoco was sentenced to 13 years in prison, on Monday, February 21, for the alleged crimes of “conspiracy”, the same accusation that has been made to all the captive opponents in “El Nuevo Chipote”.
