Argentina promoted the country's potential for the E-Sports industry

The Argentine Embassy in the United States promoted the country on Tuesday as a center for the production and distribution of sports video games (E-Sports) before 25 executives of the largest companies in the sector of that North American market.

The meeting, organized by the Argentine Embassy in Washington Together with the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Productive Development, it sought the objective of “presenting the national potential in this growing industry, both in terms of video game development and in the organization of digital sports tournaments.”

The event was held in a hybrid format, as Ambassador Jorge Argüello received businessmen at the embassy headquarters, as experts from the Ministry of Productive Development, the Association of Electronic Sports and Video Games, the province of Córdoba and the audiovisual and video game cluster of the province of Mendoza made virtual presentations.

In this regard, Argüello pointed out that “the promotion of the various industries of the Knowledge Economy is a priority of the national government, particularly in the United States, which is the largest market in the world; the potential is enormous in terms of investments, job creation of quality and strengthening of the technological ecosystem”.

And he added that “video games and digital sports register a very relevant growth; in a market in which Argentina already occupies a preponderant place in this new industry and can continue to grow much more.”

The ambassador also highlighted the development of the industry in Latin America, the region that has grown the most in this industry in the last two years.

“Argentina is the third largest market in the region, after Mexico and Brazil,” explained Argüello, stating that this potential “represents a great opportunity for Argentine video game developers, who have highly valued professionalism and talent in the market. world”.

The presentation was the first of such magnitude made by the Embassy on the E-Sports sector, highlighted an official statement.

Argentina already has the highest number of players per capita on the continent and in October the City of Buenos Aires will host the Pan American Open, a tournament that will qualify for the E-Sports World Cup in Bali, Indonesia.

The Embassy event was held within the framework of the E-Sports Insider International Educational Conference and it was attended by Argentine entities that attended virtually, such as the Mendoza Video Game Association (ADEM), Jesters E-Sports and Xowen Studio.

Between the companies that attended there were ESL Pro League, Twitch, Entain, React Gaming Group, Gameplan, NASCAR, Riot Games, Misfits Gaming, Nerd Street Gamers, Adidas, Blinkfire Analytics, Method Gaming, Esports Coaching Academy, and Esports Innovation Center.

alexander vicchidirector of the Federalization of Productive Innovation of the Undersecretary of Knowledge Economy, delved into the benefits of the Knowledge Economy Law and the competitiveness of the sector in Argentina, with federal projection.

The official provided details on the incentives that the law provides for the video game sector and presented various programs that his portfolio develops to stimulate the national technological ecosystem. Likewise, he referred to the creation of gaming clusters and the personalized training programs in E-Sports that they develop in 8 cities.

For his part, the founder of the Electronic Sports and Video Games Association, Nicolás Crespo, spoke about the ecosystem of the industry in Argentina, referring to both teams and federations, streaming platforms, events that take place in different provinces, training and government incentives at the national level and provincial. He also emphasized investment opportunities in the sector.
