Leading a work meeting with technicians from the Ministry and the contractor companies, Grupo Malespín and Yellow, Engineering and Architecture, the official said that there will be a remodeling that will modernize and speed up traffic along this important road that connects the National District with the Cibao region.
He reported that the initial investment is around 900 million pesos and that it has been in the initial phase for about three weeks..
When asked if the works will impact the surroundings of the highway, he said that more than 30 businesses will be affected, including the 9 bus terminal and the tarantines that are in the southern part, but that the socialization process has already begun.
The works include the construction of two new two-lane bridges over Luperón Avenue to increase the area from 8 to 14 lanes, which, in his opinion, will be a solution to the historic plug that forms in that place.
“Some 120,000 vehicles pass through this junction every day, which suddenly come into Kennedy in eight lanes and become two in one direction, and this is going to be a profound and high-impact job not only in the North region, but to a series of sectors such as Los Alcarrizos, Pantoja, Los Ríos, Pedro Brand, and all those in the northern part,” Ascención said.
Work is already underway on the movement of earth and delimitation of the extensions by the two contractor companies.

“What we are doing at kilometer 9 of the Duarte highway, the traffic studies, as the minister told you, more than 120,000 vehicles pass over the bridge, but we have 44,000 vehicles that cross Luperón Avenue South-North.
