The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) published this Monday 22, on its institutional portal, the Draft Regulation of Internal Elections of political organizations within the framework of the Regional and Municipal Elections 2022.

For the Regional and Municipal Elections 2022According to Law No. 31357, internal elections must be organized and carried out by the ONPE, since the candidates for regional and municipal popular election positions will be obligatorily chosen; so too, if applicable, to its accessaries.
According to the project, the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec) prepares the voter registry of each political organization based on the list of affiliates and affiliates provided by the Registry of Political Organizations (ROP) of the National Elections Jury. (JNE).

Candidates for the following positions are subject to internal elections: a) Regional Governor and Vice Governor, b) Regional Councilor, c) Provincial and District Mayor, and d) Provincial and District Councilor.
The draft regulation provides for two types of internal elections: a) Election with universal vote, free, voluntary, equal, direct and secret of the affiliates and affiliates and b) Elections through delegates and delegates, previously elected by universal, free, voluntary, equal, direct and secret vote of the affiliates and affiliates.
