This Monday, the Secretary of Domestic Trade, Robert Felettiwill meet with the members of the Argentine Federation of the Milling Industry (FAIM), after it expressed its rejection of the implementation of the wheat trust.
The guild ensures that the strategy it promotes Secretary of Domestic Tradewill be negative for the local market, so Robert Feletti will try to find a consensus with the millers.
Even from the sector they assure that they have proposed other alternatives to Robert Feletti so that price increases in international markets, as a result of the war in Ukraine, do not make flour and its derivatives more expensive.
“We were quite clear with the statement we put out. The vast majority of the companies grouped in FAIM do not believe that it is the most appropriate tool for a situation like this”, expressed Diego Cifarelli, director of FAIM.
Under this premise, the miller, which brings together 96% of the domestic supply of flour, stated that it will not participate in the Government’s strategy, a rejection joined by the Chamber of Industrial Millers (CIM).
In addition, the Association of Small and Medium Milling Industries of the Argentine Republic (APYMIMRA), also expressed its rejection of the measure, and refused to participate in it.
“The way to achieve the supply of baked products at an affordable price for the vulnerable population is not, in our opinion, compatible with the aforementioned regulations,” said CIM.
What Roberto Feletti replied about the rejection of the millers to the trust
After the criticism received from the guild, Secretary of Domestic Trade assured that the Government will continue with its initiative, since each company will be worked on individually, which is why they will also meet today.
“The idea is to clarify that they (FAIM) are not going to have a final decision on the participation of the companies, with which they are going to work individually,” they expressed from the secretariat.
