One of those affected by the fire that occurred on January 31 in the Cine Cittá business premises reported receiving threats from the owners of the entertainment company.
“Since January 31, when the fire broke out at Cine Cittá, we have waited for their good will, but we have only received threats from them,” said Marcos Pérez, owner of apartment 23 of the Riverside building, which was hit by the fire. fire.
According to Pérez, the company would have bought the entire block to build a shopping center. “They want to buy the burned building and not compensate for the damage, for them it is a round deal,” he said during an interview with Vladimir Villegas.
“Why so much interest from Cine Cittá in buying the affected building and not compensating for the damage? My personal opinion is that the fire could have been caused, but I do not have data to be able to validate it, ”he expressed.
Residents of the commercial establishment reported at the time that the Cine Cittá company “stored hydrocarbons, irresponsibly”, which caused the nearby residential complexes to catch fire in a matter of minutes. “It destroyed the building in hours,” Pérez said.

Marcos Pérez is still waiting for 900 dollars per square meter, due to the damage to his apartment, plus the internal damage caused. He also remembers how a minor was caught by the flames, 40% of his body was burned and the family has not been compensated either.
“We are facing businessmen with a lot of power,” he maintains.
He mentioned that “the mayor of Baruta, Darwin González, made an appearance on the day of the Cine Cittá fire, commented that he was going to be a facilitator in all this, but “we feel unassisted. Government entities are not meeting a human need, my neighbors are affected”.
