According to the official journalist Michael Reyes Mendozathe incident occurred on Industria street, between Concordia and Neptuno, in the Centro Habana municipality.
Mendoza pointed out through Facebook that the fire department was on the scene trying to contain the fire and minimize the damage.
Later, in comments to a video shared on the same social network by the journalist Mario J Penton, A neighbor of the place, identified as Dayani Márquez, explained that it was not an explosion, but that it had been caused by “a man who set fire.”
Dayani Márquez assured that no deaths or injuries were recorded.
For her part, the user Yeya Yeyeo wrote to Mario J. Pentón: “The man of that house is a man with tremendous intelligence who became an alcoholic and in the hallway of his house he keeps garbage that he collects from garbage cans. The neighbors of that six-apartment building always complain but nobody does anything. The neighbors themselves are the ones who clean the corridor because the bad smell and the animals that it brings with it affect them”.
Last Wednesday, another fire in a food store of the Guaicanamar Convention Center, located in the municipality of Regla de La Habana, alarmed the inhabitants near the place.
After it began to circulate on social networks that the incident had occurred at the Ñico López Oil Refinery, the news was denied by the official media.
Although they did not explain the causes of the fire at the Guaicanamar Convention Center, belonging to the Petroleum Services Company, EMSERPET, the user Enmanuel López, from the Facebook group “De Regla Somos”, indicated that it was due to an electrical fault.
That same day, a burst in a house on Calle San Nicolás, No. 952, in Old Havana, left three people injured, including a minor.
