The activities carried out within the framework of the patriotic celebrations for the anniversary of National Independence generated an important movement of people in the downtown area of Asunción.
From the early hours of this Sunday, a considerable influx of people could be observed in the main streets of the capital’s center.
After the intense rain that frustrated several of the plans planned for yesterday, this Sunday the panorama changed drastically when the weather conditions improved, which was taken advantage of by families and individuals.
The downtown of Asunción was the object of an important revitalization in the framework of the 211 anniversary of Paraguayan independence, especially considering that there are several of the sites that were part of that libertarian deed.
A series of activities were scheduled for this May 15 as part of the national celebrations, including the fair for entrepreneurs and artisans on Calle Palma -which has become a pedestrian street- and Plaza O’leary.
The House of Independence is an essential place to visit on these dates. Guided tours and dramatizations with actors have once again been organized in order to recreate the events of 1811. Another historical site that received several visitors this Sunday is the National Pantheon of Heroes.
Likewise, an artistic festival will be held in the Plaza de la Democracia starting at 5:00 p.m., with the presence of the Jazz Band of the National Police, the National Ballet of Paraguay, the Nendive Trio, together with the groups Nunca Viste , Karai Terere and Flou.
Taking advantage of this special date in the calendar, an exhibition of old vehicles is also taking place in the historic railway station, located in front of Plaza Uruguaya.
