At five months of gestation, Mileydi went to said hospital for a routine medical check-up and to find out the sex her baby would have. Surprisingly, a hemorrhage was detected and she began to feel discomfort in her belly.
When presenting complications in the placenta that put the baby’s life in danger, the health professionals determined that Lozano Domínguez should give birth, and that is how the little Luz de Esperanza with only 25 weeks (five months) and weighing 630 gramsfor which she was hospitalized for four months.
The head of the Pediatric Service of Hospital III of EsSalud, Marco Vásquez Tantas, explained that the minor remained in an incubator with equipment that allowed her to breathe better, since her lungs were not well developed.
“The newborn was born very small, she was premature, her normal weight must have been between 3.2 and 3.8 kg, and she was born between 37 and 41 weeks. Therefore, she barely came into this world, she received the necessary care, she overcame infections typical of premature babies and won the battle, since she was now discharged with an adequate weight and good health.”, he stated.
He also explained that the baby received a good diet from the nurses, who were in charge of promoting maternal relactation, which greatly helped the minor to obtain the appropriate weight and size.
“How many times have we thought that we couldn’t take it anymore because the little girl needed another type of help, more advanced help, but we found strength and it was achieved. For us it is a joy that the girl is discharged with an adequate nutritional recovery”, pointed out Vasquez Tantas.
