The Ministry of Health reported 4,206 new cases of Covid-19, with a positivity rate of 7.51% in the last 24 hours nationwide, after carrying out 56,358 tests; PCR and antigen test. Daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 11.78%.
After reporting more than 4,000 cases for the fourth consecutive day, the health authority explained that the variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is 42% and 44% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively. Meanwhile, only 2 regions have decreased their cases in the last seven days and 2 also in the last 2 weeks.
Of the total number of new cases, 31% are diagnosed by antigen test, 41% originate from Active Case Search (BAC) and 20% of those reported are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it presents 26% due to antigen, 36% due to BAC and 18% of the notified cases are asymptomatic.
According to sample collection, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are the Metropolitan, Valparaíso, O Higgins and Magallanes.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitana region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by the Valparaíso, Atacama, and Magallanes regions.
According to today’s report, of the 4,206 new cases of Covid-19, 2,324 correspond to symptomatic people and 594 have no symptoms. In addition, 1,288 Positive PCR tests were registered that were not reported.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with the virus in the country reaches 3,605,522. Of that total, 18,775 patients are in the active stage. The recovered cases are 3,528,816.
As for deaths, according to the information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there were 8 deaths from causes associated with the coronavirus. The total number of deceased amounts to 57,722 in the country.
To date, 159 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 119 are supported by mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 364 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are located.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, the results of 56,358 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported yesterday, reaching a total of 37,693,651 analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 7.51% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 11.78%.
Regarding the Sanitary Residences, there are 27 accommodation facilities, with a total of 2,343 beds. The actual occupancy at the national level is 38%, leaving a total of 1,136 beds available for use.
