Palmeiras turns on Bragantino and keeps the lead in the Brazilian Women's Championship

Palmeiras continues to lead the A1 Series (first division) of the Brazilian Women’s Football Championship. This Sunday (15), Palestrinas beat Red Bul Bragantino 2-1, in a comeback, at Red Bull’s Athlete Training Center (CFA), in Jarinu (SP), for the ninth round of the competition.Palmeiras turns on Bragantino and keeps the lead in the Brazilian Women's Championship

The alviverde team was 22 points ahead, three ahead of the vice-leader Internacional, which receives Cruzeiro this Monday (16), at 17:30 (Brasília time), at Sesc Campestre, in Porto Alegre. The Paulistas are hoping for a stumble by the Gauchos or, at least, that they don’t win by three or more goals.

Bragantinas follow in the lantern, with one point, seven behind Cruzeiro, the first team outside the relegation zone. It was the eighth defeat in nine matches, the fourth being a comeback.

The hosts took the lead five minutes into the first half, with forward Luana India covering up goalkeeper Jully after a corner kick. The Palmeiras tie came in the 14th minute, with forward Carol Baiana. Just before the break, in the 43rd minute, midfielder Andresinha hit a shot in the corner, finishing close to the edge of the area, enacting the alviverde turn.

The ninth round of the Brazilian began on Saturday (14), with two games. Santos won the classic against São Paulo by 2 to 1, in a comeback, in Vila Belmiro. The first two goals enforced the ex’s law on the coast of São Paulo. The Sovereigns opened the scoring, in the first half stoppage time, with Fê Palermo, former side of the Sereias da Vila. The tie came in the 21st minute of the final stage with striker Cristiane, who defended Tricolor in 2019. At 50, midfielder Júlia hit the angle of goalkeeper Carla and secured the white-and-white victory.

Santos went to 15 points, provisionally overtaking Ferroviária (which is still on the field in the round), taking the fifth position. São Paulo, with 17 points, appear one place ahead.

At the Martins Pereira stadium, in São José dos Campos (SP), São José did not start from scratch with Atlético-MG. The tie took São Paulo to nine points, in 11th place, but could end the round in the relegation zone if Cruzeiro or Avaí/Kindermann win. The Avengers are seventh with 13 points. The athleticans cheer against Flamengo, Real Brasília and Grêmio not to lose space in the G8.
